In this Section, I have outlined my past Industrial and Academic projects.
Industrial Projects:
ZETES 160MW (CFB Boiler) Power Plant, Turkey:
HMI and Control logic Development for Boiler, Turbine and Generator Cooling systems; Fly ash and Bed ash Handling systems; HP and LP bypass logics for CFB Boiler; Water and Steam Cycle Logics; Third Party systems mapping to DCS via Profibus and Modbus.
PTTNT Power Plant Project (Indonesia) with Engineering at ABB Singapore:
Upgradation of AC110 to AC160 Controller for steam turbine governing and protection; Upgrade of Controller Communication presently Master field bus with MP260 Controller to Advant Field Bus with AC450 Controller; Programming AC160 and AC450 controllers using Application builder and Function chart builder; Programming AC450 Controller as HMI Interface for PPA; and Customer FAT support at ABB Singapore.
Zelzate Gas Compressor Station, Belgium:
Typicals/Control Modules Development for the Zelzate Gas Compressor Station using 800xA SV 5.0; The functionalities for a Typical such as logic, faceplate design and graphic Interface are done for following typicals: Solenoid valve, Analog I/P, ON-OFF valve and Digital Input.
NTPC Anta-CCP-Steam Turbine (153MW), Rajasthan (India):
Renovation Project with Hardwired Decontik system converted to 800xA system with AC160 and AC450 Controllers; Reference to existing FDS, Panel Drawings, of the existing Decontik Hardwired system and preparation of I/O list for the Steam turbine; OLC’s, CLC’s, Protection and Alarms; GA and IA development for Steam Turbine Hardware using AC160 and AC450 Controllers, S800 and S600 I/O modules; Programming AC160 for Steam Turbine Governing Controls, Protection and Open loop controls; Programming AC450 Controller as HMI Interface for PPA.
Tuticorin Thermal Power Station, Tamilnadu (India):
FAT for FSSS System for 210MW Power Plant with HI (PM865) Controller Includes: Hardware Inspection, Controller and N/W Redundancy check, I/O functionality checking and software testing from PGP (Power Generation portal).
Academic Projects:
M.Tech Project: PC Based Control of Hydro-Turbine Generator
Overview: This project deals with real time control of speed, load and excitation for a 10 kW Hydro-Turbine (Test rig at Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, IIT Roorkee), with online monitoring of parameters i.e. Speed, Valve position, Flow, Inlet head, outlet head.
Hardware: Data Acquisition modules for Analog Input, Analog O/P, Digital Input and Digital Output, RS-232 to RS-485 Converter; Solid state relays and three phase contactors for Load control.
PCB Designed: Firing circuit for 3-Phase Half Controlled Thyristor Bridge and Three phase SCR Bridge for Excitation control; Signal Conditioning PCB for speed sensor (Fabricated brass Disc with 60 slots for accurate measurement of speed of Generator.
B.Tech Project: PC Based Coal Ash Monitor:
Overview: Coal ash monitor is operated on nucleonic technique of low-energy gamma transmission. This system is generally used in Power and Steel industries for continuous measurement of ash content. This is a PC Based system and scintillation detector is used for measurement of radiation. The project has been carried out at Electronics Corporation of India Ltd, Hyderabad in Instruments and Systems Division.
Hardware: The intensity of radiation is collected in terms of electronic pulses and necessary hardware is developed for interfacing to the PC for online measurement of ash content in the coal.
